2023 marks TEN YEARS of writing on the internet!
I started Bloom back in 2013. I was lost as a new wife, in a town that had a smaller population than the number of students in my high school. Then, gardening, local food and cooking at home brought me to life and I loved sharing it all in this space.
Through the years, this blog, Bloom, has had many “eras.” From the gardening days that evolved in to an actual small farm and business to a little “mommy blogging” and even a complete break from writing all together when I was in a season of burnout.
All the while the idea behind Bloom was– and still is– that Bloom a state of becoming or way of being. It’s not a bud or the full blown flower. It’s where you are trying, learning and growing. Where you are encouraged to ask questions, to listen, to express yourself, be creative, and be curious.
This is the way I love to live and I am glad to have started this little place on the internet so that I can share and continue to Bloom. This season of blooming looks like my current project, The Farmers Market and The Library. I share something I know on Tuesdays and a meal that has made an impact on my life on Fridays. Follow along on social media for more fun and life sprinkled in.
There you will see that I love my family, our home, gardening and cooking. I am a bit of a pop culture nerd– especially as it relates to the millennial zeitgeist– so I am often sharing books, articles and podcasts. I love heartfelt, real and thought provoking stories. I am a mistake maker and a gal trying to unlearn so much of what shaped my first thirty years in terms of privilege, being “good,” body image, and more. I enjoy art in all forms be it painting, sewing, music and clever words. I am fueled by connection, learning, the perfect Taylor Swift lyric, and strong coffee. There is nothing that brings me greater joy than a deep, nuanced, real conversation… preferably over a glass of wine and some good snacks on my patio or around my kitchen island.
Come on in. Welcome! I am so glad you are here and it is my greatest hope that you leave eager to Bloom in your own way.
